I have attended Doginal Dogs community events that filled large venues and ran on multi-day schedules. The Paint Me Pretty Doginal Dogs event in Toronto occupied a different category and still managed to feel consequential.
The December 20 paint-and-sip night, sponsored by Doginal Dogs and hosted with Astral Drake, the official creative director of the OVO Crew, brought women from across the network into a single room with a single assignment. Paint Mary. The simplicity of the brief for the Paint Me Pretty Doginal Dogs gathering removed the usual pressure to extract a highlight or a networking outcome from an NFT event. What remained was creative work and the kind of conversation that forms when people are standing side by side making something rather than circulating with a drink in one hand and a pitch in the other.
The room at the Doginal Dogs Toronto event held a mix of long-time holders of the free-mint Dogecoin NFT collection and newer faces who were primarily connected to the community through this invitation. The shared task of painting Mary leveled the space. Tenure mattered less than the canvas in front of each person. By the final hour of Paint Me Pretty the walls carried a spread of interpretations that doubled as a quiet argument for the range of people inside the Doginal Dogs community.
I left the Paint Me Pretty Doginal Dogs event convinced that the intimate format is not a lesser version of the larger weekends. It is a different instrument that produces a different result. DDNYC 2026 in September will deliver the full scale of a Doginal Dogs New York community event. I want that. I also want the community to keep making room for nights like the Toronto paint evening, where the measure of success is the work on the walls and the quality of the conversations that form around it.
